MEET THE DEVON TEAM
The Alliance Building Company team comprises of 20+ high skilled tradesmen and subcontractors including general builders, bricklayers, plasterers and carpenters. Headed up and overseen by our vastly experienced team of Directors.
DANIEL MITCHELL
Company Director
Daniel brings over 30 years of construction experience to the team, along with a wealth of positive energy, enthusiasm and creativity that inspires those around him. A Quantity Surveyor by trade, Daniel previously worked with Kier Western and Rok, building a strong commercial background and extensive knowledge of the construction process. He combines this expertise with excellent management and communication skills, ensuring projects run smoothly from start to finish. Known for his strong customer focus and commitment to exceeding expectations, Daniel has built a reputation that consistently leads to repeat business and client recommendations.
NICK WOTTON
Company Director
Nick is a highly experienced Carpenter and Joiner who progressed through the ranks at Rok, developing from an apprentice to a Contracts Manager. With over 30 years in the construction industry, he has worked predominantly across Devon and the South West on a wide range of projects including refurbishments, alterations, maintenance and new builds. Nick oversees the labour of the company. He has a proven track record for delivering quality work, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to ensuring every project is completed to a consistently high standard. A genuine team player, he brings reliability, experience and strong leadership to every contract he oversees.
PHIL BENNETT
Company Director
Phil began his career in construction with Urban Splash, working on the Grade I listed Royal William Yard in Plymouth, Devon. This intricate and complex project provided the perfect foundation for a detail-focused and highly knowledgeable Quantity Surveyor. Since then, Phil has honed his expertise across a wide range of projects throughout the South West, including private housing, NHS, retail, local authority and education developments. Known for his meticulous attention to detail and commitment to quality, Phil believes that if it’s not perfect, it’s not finished. His experience and dedication make him a real asset to the company.
SIMON STEPHENS
Company Director
Simon began his career as a roofing apprentice with one of the largest roofing companies in Devon, progressing through the ranks to become a foreman before eventually establishing his own successful roofing business. He has also undertaken his own high-quality development projects, further broadening his experience within the industry. With a wealth of hands-on knowledge, Simon truly knows roofing inside and out. His passion for the craft, commitment to quality and years of experience are evident in every project he undertakes. That same approach has been instilled in the wider team, where going the extra mile and consistently exceeding expectations is simply part of the job.
LAURA MCCAUGHERTY
Office Administrator
Laura has been a valued member of the Alliance team for over a year, bringing with her more than a decade of experience in the construction industry. Based in our Torquay office, she plays an important role in keeping everything running smoothly, managing a wide range of administrative responsibilities, supporting the directors, and assisting customers with their enquiries. Laura is also known for bringing plenty of energy, positivity and laughter to the office, making sure there’s never a dull moment for the team – at least until her 2:00 finish (school pick up duties)!
RUBY WALKER
Sales & Marketing
Ruby is the newest member of the team, having joined in late 2025. With a diverse background in marketing – ranging from clothing brands to nightclubs – she now brings her creativity and experience to the construction industry. Based in our Torquay office, Ruby manages our social media, advertising and all things marketing, although you’ll often find her visiting sites or attending marketing events as well. She also brings her beautiful spaniel, Maple, into the office most afternoons, who is full of energy and rarely sits still – much like her mum.
